Current Research

  • Examine changes in hydrological regime by uniformly increasing water levels across the habitat
  • Degrade habitat through systematic and random means
    • Partial Degradation (i.e., territory by territory)
    • Complete Degradation (i.e., entire cell no longer suitable for breeding)

Future Research

  • Explore sensitivity to ranges of values associate with life cycle parameters and dispersal strategies
  • Investigate population responses to 50-60% habitat degradation
    • a critical range over which the level of habitat connectivity declines precipitously
  • Simulate shrub invasion at higher elevation sites and/or marsh encroachment at lower elevation sites
  • Assess the effects of prairie restoration on population viability
  • Integrate plant succession patterns predicted by ATLSS under alternative proposed management strategies
