1992: A Short-Hydroperiod Year

Dry Year - 1992

The satellite image at left shows the vegetative composition of the Everglades during the 1992 breeding season. The yellow areas of the image on the left indicate areas of potential breeding habitat for the Cape Sable seaside sparrow.

Water Record

The year 1992 represents the end of a four-year period where breeding sparrows where able to attempt at least two broods during the dry season. As can be seen in the figure above, this four-year period of the mid-1990's is also comparable to the three year dry period between 1976 to 1978.
